Wynn Changes Course, Jardin Closes Permanently After a Decade at Encore

Back in April 2026, a restaurant named Jardin (pronounced “zhahr-dahn,” the French word for “pretentious”) closed for a “refresh.”

It appears “refresh” is the new “closed,” because Wynn Resorts has confirmed the restaurant’s permanent closure.

A company rep told the Las Vegas Review-Journal there’s a new American concept in development for the Jardin space.

Jardin, which actually means “garden” in French, is pushing up daisies.

Because Jardin served only breakfast, brunch and lunch, we never got a chance to visit. Who gets up at those crazy times of day (7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.)? Because we didn’t dine there, we’ll have to fluff up our story by mansplaining how “Jardin” is pronounced.

The “j” isn’t like the typical “j” in English, as in “jump.” It’s more like the first part of “zhuzh.” Like when you “zhuzh things up a little.” People think that word is Yiddish, but it’s not. It comes from Polari, slang used in the British underground performing arts as well as the gay subculture. We’d have gotten that wrong on “Jeopardy.”

The “a” in Jardin is a short “a,” like in “father,” but it’s the soft version. In French, the “r” is made at the back of the throat.

The “din” is more of a “dahn,” but it’s easier if you listen to the pronunciation, rather than reading it.

Jardin at Encore opened Dec. 18, 2015, in the former Botero space.

In April, Jardin closed for what at the time sounded like a renovation. The best-laid plans, as they say.

Our friend @seventensuited shared a photo of a sign that clearly said, “Jardin is undergoing a refresh and will reopen in May 2026.”

That information was communicated to employees, who assumed they’d be back. At the end of May, however, they got the news the restaurant wouldn’t be back.

We’ve heard some employees are disgruntled at the way the closure was handled. The Las Vegas restaurant business isn’t for the faint of heart.

The Jardin space at Encore will be gutted, and the new concept will be a real restaurant, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The rumor at one point was the Four Sixes Ranch Steakhouse, a pop-up inside Tableau that closed in Jan. 2026, would move into the Jardin space. That doesn’t appear to be the case now, as Four Sixes isn’t a “new” concept.

A Wynn rep shared that a decision hasn’t been made about whether Four Sixes Ranch Steakhouse will be back or where it might go if it does.

There’s always something new going on with Las Vegas restaurants, which pretty much keeps us employed.

Recent additions at Wynn and Encore: Pisces Bar & Seafare at Wynn’s Lake of Dreams and Sartiano’s Italian Steakhouse, located next to the also-new Zero Bond private social club. We are not a seafood person, but Sartiano’s is a world-class steakhouse, despite its insistence upon serving caviar cannoli. Our dining companion raved. He is clearly not a well person. To each their own, the rest of the menu was outstanding.

We are not a caviar person. Sartiano’s meatballs were saucy little miracles, however.

No, really.

We heed the advice of noted poets TLC: “Don’t go chasing waterfalls, please stick to the rivers and the lakes that you’re used to.”

Things we’re looking forward to with the new concept moving into the Jardin space: 1) Interior design by Todd-Avery Lenahan, President and Chief Creative Officer of Wynn Design & Development, and 2) it’s American, so it will probably have a name that’s easier to pronounce. Great for tourists, not great for bloggers looking to fluff up their stories, but it is what it is.

We will never run out of fluff because there’s an endless supply of insipid phrases like “it is what it is.”
