Senegal, which initially recorded a 1-0 win in extra time, has been ruled to have forfeited the match, with Morocco officially awarded a 3-0 victory.
On March 17, 2026, sports journalist Fabrizio Romano shared the CAF Appeal Board’s decision on X. The post read:
“BREAKING: Morocco have been announced as AFCON winners with final result overturned by CAF. Senegal have been declared to have forfeited the match with Morocco declared 3-0 winners by official statement. CAF statement tonight.”
