Former India player Aakash Chopra has recommended two changes in the Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) playing combination for their IPL 2026 clash against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). He opined that Jamie Overton and Akeal Hosein should be included at the expense of Anshul Kamboj and Prashant Veer.
CSK will face RCB in the 11th game of IPL 2026 in Bengaluru on Sunday, April 5. The five-time champions fielded only two overseas players in their playing combination in their five-wicket loss to the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Chennai two days ago.
In a video shared on his YouTube channel, ‘Aakash Chopra,’ the former India batter reckoned that CSK should play four overseas players against RCB, with Overton being a mandatory inclusion.
“Play a minimum of three overseas players. How will it work out if you don’t play them? I would say play four. Play Overton for sure and also think about Akeal Hosein. I will recommend two changes. One is to play Jamie Overton in place of Anshul Kamboj,” he said.
Chopra added that Hosein could prove very handy with the new ball against the RCB opening pair of Virat Kohli and Phil Salt.
“Play Akeal Hosein in place of Prashant Veer. You should have Akeal Hosein in front of Virat Kohli and Phil Salt. He will bowl with the new ball. He will actually be very effective. I feel there is a place for Akeal Hosein. You should go with four overseas players,” he added.
Aakash Chopra opined that Sanju Samson needs to score runs for the Chennai Super Kings to win games. He added that winning Sunday’s match is virtually mandatory for the Chennai-based franchise as it cannot afford three consecutive losses at the start of the tournament.
“You should be slightly concerned” – Aakash Chopra on RCB ahead of IPL 2026 clash vs CSK

In the same video, Aakash Chopra noted that the Royal Challengers Bengaluru‘s inability to restrict the SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) to a sub-200 total despite picking up early wickets would be their only concern heading into their IPL 2026 clash against the Chennai Super Kings.
“RCB, very simple, you had reduced SRH to 29/3 at one stage, and you conceded 200 runs despite that. It is not a problem, it is not a worry, but you should be slightly concerned. The opposing team didn’t bat well, but they still scored 200 runs,” he said.
The cricketer-turned-commentator added that the RCB spinners might feel the pressure against CSK’s Indian-heavy batting lineup, especially Shivam Dube.
“This is the one thing you want to address. Apart from that, it was an impeccable game. Spin was slightly cold in that, and here since there will be many Indian batters in the opposition, spin might feel themselves under pressure again, and then there is a six-hitting machine against spin in Shivam Dube. You will have to be slightly wary of him,” Chopra observed.
While Suyash Sharma registered figures of 1/28 in three overs, Krunal Pandya went wicketless and conceded 26 runs in two overs in RCB’s IPL 2026 clash against SRH. Although the defending champions allowed Ishan Kishan and company to post 201/9 after reducing them to 29/3, they achieved the target with six wickets and 26 balls to spare.
