Danhausen and John Cena had arguably one of the most iconic interactions at this year’s WrestleMania 42 event. Both stars are beloved among fans across all ages and while Cena is retired now, the former AEW star recently paid an emotional tribute to him. At a recent WWE Live Event in Liverpool, the Very Evil, Very Nice star used Cena’s Five Knuckle Shuffle on the Miz with his own touch.
The 35-year-old star made his debut for the Stamford-based company earlier this year at the Elimination Chamber PLE. He came out of a mystery crate that had been appearing on RAW and SmackDown for weeks. After joining the promotion, he started a feud with long-time veteran the Miz and Kit Wilson. He even had an interaction with the two stars alongside John Cena at WrestleMania 42 Sunday.
Thanks for the submission!
Cena was out in the ring to announce the attendance for WrestleMania Sunday when he was interrupted by the Miz and Kit Wilson. Danhausen came out to confront the two heels with his own army of Mini-hausens and beat them up. This was his first appearance at the Show of Shows and it happened with the Cenation Leader. The moment was also a huge call-back to the Miz’s first WrestleMania main event that happened in 2011 against Cena where he beat him for the title.
The Very Evil, Very Nice star paid another emotional tribute to the Greatest of All Time during his recent match against the Miz at WWE Live in Liverpool. He hit the two-time Grandslam Champion with a five-knuckle shuffle during their match. He reshared a clip of the match posted by WWE’s official X account and paid a heartfelt tribute to Cena by quoting his catchphrase with his own touch:
“You Can’t Curse Me,” he wrote.
Fans love to see the Vampire on weekly WWE programming and he is one of the company’s top merch sellers.
Danhausen says he “was not there” in AEW
During his recent appearance on the Cheap Heat podcast, Danhausen talked about the time he spent under Tony Khan’s All Elite Wrestling. He revealed that he was spending most of his time on the indies instead of appearing on AEW programming.
“No, you didn’t. You definitely did not. You saw me online a lot. Perception is reality. Danhausen would do vlogs backstage on his own and do videos with his enemies and his friendhausens, and he’d put those out there so maybe it seemed like I was doing more than I was. I was not there. I was doing the independent scenes. That’s what I was doing. About three a weekend or doing conventions and some sort like New York Comic Con and things like that.” [H/T Fightful on X]
Fans are excited to see what’s next for Danhausen under Triple H’s creative.
