Former RCB pacer blind ranks bizarre events at T20 World Cup 2026; ranks SRH chants at Chepauk in the top two

Former Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) pacer Varun Aaron blind-ranked a series of eight bizarre events that could transpire in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026 (via ESPN Cricinfo X handle). He began by ranking the improbable scenario of the Chennai crowd at Chepauk Stadium chanting ‘SRH, SRH’ for an Ishan Kishan-Abhishek Sharma partnership at No.2, but later swapped it to the top of his list.

Needless to say, Kishan and Abhishek have forged a destructive opening partnership for India in T20Is this year. The duo played for the SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) last season and will form their top order in the upcoming 2026 IPL season.

While Abhishek has struggled thus far in the 2026 T20 World Cup with two ducks, Kishan has been India’s best batter with 158 runs at an average of 52.66 and a strike rate of 197.50.

Aaron ranked a Canada-USA semifinal at the ongoing World Cup in his top four, along with the strange scenario of a batter punching a bowler during his celebration after hitting the winning runs, only to cost his team a side.

Furthermore, he ranked the unlikely scenario of Mohammed Siraj coming in as a concussion substitute for Shivam Dube, reminiscent of Harshit Rana coming in for Dube, at No.8.

Varun Aaron’s third-ranked bizarre situation was all-rounder Hardik Pandya smashing a signature MS Dhoni helicopter shot for six into the VIP box at Chepauk Stadium, and the latter taking a catch. The former seamer picked Nepal reaching the final and filling half the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad with their fans at No.5.

Aaron ranked a funny scenario involving fellow pacers, Arshdeep Singh and Jasprit Bumrah, where the former turns down a single to keep strike second-to-bottom.

Finally, Aaron ranked the possibility of a bowler bowling a no-look ball to Dewald Brevis, who is renowned for his ability to smash no-look sixes, in this T20 World Cup at No.6.

The tournament is heading towards the business end of the group stage, with India, South Africa, and the West Indies already booking their place for the Super Eights.
